I bought a long hair chihuahua at 6 months old and thougt he woul not get much bigger. He now weight 18lbs. stands 10-12 tall an 18 in long…I woul like to see a picture of othe chihuahua’s this size an any respose from other people who have the same size chihuahua. I have certified papers.

There is also a relatively new small dog breed called Mi-Ki. They are long haired, with “up” of “down” ears and usually weigh between 8 to 10 pounds. I have a 6 year old Mi-Ki with “up” ears like a Papillon and she weighs 5 lbs. She may be small but she the boss of our Doberman.

What about the Schipperke? They were bred in Belgium as ratters on their barges. They are happy, affectionate, stubborn and charming little dogs. They are about the size of a Pom or Pekenise (another small dog you left out, and what about the miniature poodle?) and come in one color, black. They have the teeth of a shark, the face of a fox, the mane of a lion, the butt of a bear…and tiny feet. They are bossy if you let them be, but they are the most confident, happy dogs I’ve met.

Don’t forget the miniature dachshunds! Especially the kanichen dachshunds are very small.
Max. weight of 8 lbs. and chests measuring up to 12 inches around.

What about my favorite, Pomeranian? A standard size is an absolute joy to own. The standards are not temperamental, aggressive, playful and great with kids.
