Nearly every country in the world has its own army to protect its interests against internal and external enemies. Most of these armies were involved in the major conflicts of the modern day world including World War I, World War II and the Korean War. In addition, many of these armies have been involved in conflicts fighting for their own country’s independence.
#10: Pakistan
Pakistan’s Army was founded in 1947 and maintains a force of over 500,000 strong who have all volunteered for service.

The Turkish Army dates back more than 2,000 years. The modern day Turkish Army is one of the few notable armies that stayed neutral during World War II.
Although the Turkish Army was involved in the Korean War, the largest conflict in the 1900s was in the Turkish Independence War where it fought Russia, Britain, Greece, France and Italy along its borders.
Military service in Turkey is required with few exceptions and it has resulted in Turkey having the second largest ground force in NATO.

The North Korean People’s Army was established in 1939 and has an impressive force of more than one million soldiers. When reserve unit numbers are counted in this total, estimates are more than seven million soldiers who could be activated if needed.
Major conflicts in North Korea’s history are the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Tensions between North and South Korea still exist today and, technically, the conflict has not officially ended between the two.
North Korea has confirmed its nuclear and chemical weapons capability in recent years with threats against various countries including the United States, mainly for its alliance with South Korea.
#5: Germany
The German Army has one of the most notable histories with the rise of Hitler. The German Army was responsible for the start of World War II when it invaded Poland.
After the War ended, Germany was in a divided state and formed the West Germany Army.
After reunification in the 1990s, the armies from the east and west were combined into the current German Army. The current military force in Germany numbers over 200,000 active soldiers.

The Indian Army dates back to the Stone Age. Today, it is known as being the largest all volunteer ground force in the world with more than 1,000,000 active duty soldiers.
India has never had to institute a draft to staff its ground force. The Indian Army has been involved in both world wars as well as several conflicts to fight for its own independence.

Indian Army attacked Lahore and Sialkot in 1965 and Sialkot and Karachi harbour in 1971. But they failed to conquer anything and got their ass kicked in both wars. In 1965, the attackers ran for cover when they couldnt sustain the onslaught of Pakistani army and left all ammunition, artillery and even tanks behind.

I did some research and found out some interesting things, why is there a rivalry between India and Pakistan and what were the results.
Now this is a chocolate, eat it if you can. I don’t think you can claim these facts to be wrong as I have mentioned them with the International documents and precise dates of events.
1947:
Pakistan attacked Kashmir which was then a princely state and the prince with and intention to secure the stable future of his people joined Kashmir to India and the document of evidence is the “Agreement to Accession”. India responded by pushing the Pakistani invaders. It is true that India invited UN for a settlement but the UN split the Kashmir state into two and drew the Line of control. The battle is believed to won by India as Pakistan was the major sufferer but in reality the battle was a draw with considerable victories on both sides.
1965:
Pakistan started the operation Gibraltar by sending in forces to Jammu and Kashmir. It is like in the height of winter both Pakistan and India removes forces at many inhospitable places in the mountain ranges.Pakistani leaders believed that India, which was still recovering from the disastrous Sino-Indian War, would be unable to deal with a military thrust and a Kashmiri rebellion. India reacted and launched a counter offensive on Pakistan. Pakistan launched Operation Grand Slam in reply , invading India’s Chamb-Jaurian sector. In retaliation, the India’s Army launched a major offensive throughout its border with Pakistan, with Lahore as its prime target.the Indian Army met with success in the northern sector. After launching prolonged artillery barrages against Pakistan, India was able to capture three important mountain positions in Kashmir. the Indian Army had made considerable in-roads into Pakistan. India had its largest haul of Pakistani tanks when the offensive of Pakistan’s 1st Armoured Division was blunted at the Battle of Asal Uttar, which took place near Khemkaran. The biggest tank battle of the war was of the Battle of Chawinda, the largest tank battle in history after World War II. Pakistan’s defeat at the battle of Assal Uttar hastened the end of the conflict. India lost 3500 soldiers and 175 tanks and Pakistan lost 3800 soldiers and 190 tanks and 100 tanks were captured by India. When Pakistan had lost almost all its defenses India could have easily taken over Lahore and Islamabad but due to internal political factors in India and pressure from the United States and the UN, made India to stop the army’s movement. Pakistan was forced to sign the Tashkent agreement stating that Pakistan had lost the war and would move back the pre-war positions.
1971:
An independence movement broke out in East Pakistan which was brutally crushed by Pakistani forces. Due to large-scale atrocities against them, thousands of Bengalis took refuge in neighboring India causing a major refugee crisis here. In early 1971, India declared its full-support for the Bengali rebels, known as Mukti Bahini, and Indian agents were extensively involved in covert operations to aid them.
India won the battle . Pakistan lost over 200 tanks, more than 9000 soldiers and 40 aircrafts compared to India which lost only 200 men, 80 tanks and 26 aircrafts. over 90,000 Pakistani military personals were taken as war prisoners by India and the independent state of Bangladesh was created. Again Pakistan had to sign the Simla Agreement to avoid further attacks from India.
Siachen conflict 1984:
India launched Operation Meghdoot in April 1984. The entire Kumaon Regiment of the Indian Army was airlifted to the glacier. Pakistani forces responded quickly and clashes between the two followed. Indian Army secured the strategic Sia La and Bilafond La mountain passes and by 1985, more than 1,000 square miles (2,600 km2) of territory, ‘claimed’ by Pakistan, was under Indian control. The Indian Army continues to control all of the Siachen Glacier and its tributary glaciers. Pakistan made several unsuccessful attempts to regain control over Siachen. In late 1987, Pakistan mobilized about 8,000 troops and garrisoned them near Khapalu, aiming to capture Bilafond La. However, they were repulsed by Indian Army personnel guarding Bilafond. During the battle, about 23 Indian soldiers lost their lives while more than 150 Pakistani troops perished. Further unsuccessful attempts to reclaim positions were launched by Pakistan in 1990, 1995, 1996 and 1999, most notably in Kargil that year.
India continues to maintain a strong military presence in the region despite extremely inhospitable conditions. The conflict over Siachen is regularly cited as an example of mountain warfare.
Kargil 1999:
Pakistani paramilitary forces and Kashmiri insurgents captured deserted, but strategic, Himalayan heights in the Kargil district of India. These had been vacated by the Indian army during the onset of the inhospitable winter and were supposed to reoccupied in spring. The regular Pakistani troops who took control of these areas received important support, both in the form of arms and supplies, from Pakistan. Some of the heights under their control, which also included the Tiger Hill, overlooked the vital Srinagar-Leh Highway (NH 1A), Batalik and Dras.
the Indian Army quickly mobilized about 200,000 troops and Operation Vijay (1999)|Operation Meghdoot]] was launched. However, since the heights were under Pakistani control, India was in a clear strategic disadvantage. From their observation posts, the Pakistani forces had a clear line-of-sight to lay down indirect artillery fire on NH 1A, inflicting heavy casualties on the Indians. This was a serious problem for the Indian Army as the highway was its main logistical and supply route. Thus, the Indian Army’s first priority was to recapture peaks that were in the immediate vicinity of NH1a. This resulted in Indian troops first targeting the Tiger Hill and Tololing complex in Dras. This was soon followed by more attacks on the Batalik-Turtok sub-sector which provided access to Siachen Glacier. Point 4590, which had the nearest view of the NH1a, was successfully recaptured by Indian forces.
In many vital points, neither artillery nor air power could dislodge the outposts manned by the Pakistan soldiers, who were out of visible range. The Indian Army mounted some direct frontal ground assaults which were slow and took a heavy toll given the steep ascent that had to be made on peaks as high as 18,000 feet (5,500 m). Two months into the conflict, Indian troops had slowly retaken most of the ridges they had lost;according to official count, an estimated 75%–80% of the intruded area and nearly all high ground was back under Indian control.
The Indian Army launched its final attacks, as soon as the Drass subsector had been cleared of Pakistani forces the war ended.India resumed control of all the territories lost.
nearly 527 Indian soldiers were killed and 700 Pakistani personal and 3000 Mujahideen fighters were killed.

I did some research and found out some interesting things, why is there a rivalry between India and Pakistan and what were the results. Now this is a chocolate, eat it if you can.
1947:
Pakistan attacked Kashmir which was then a princely state and the prince with and intention to secure the stable future of his people joined Kashmir to India and the document of evidence is the “Agreement to Accession”. India responded by pushing the Pakistani invaders. It is true that India invited UN for a settlement but the UN split the Kashmir state into two and drew the Line of control. The battle is believed to won by India as Pakistan was the major sufferer but in reality the battle was a draw with considerable victories on both sides.
1965:
Pakistan started the operation Gibraltar by sending in forces to Jammu and Kashmir. It is like in the height of winter both Pakistan and India removes forces at many inhospitable places in the mountain ranges.Pakistani leaders believed that India, which was still recovering from the disastrous Sino-Indian War, would be unable to deal with a military thrust and a Kashmiri rebellion. India reacted and launched a counter offensive on Pakistan. Pakistan launched Operation Grand Slam in reply , invading India’s Chamb-Jaurian sector. In retaliation, the India’s Army launched a major offensive throughout its border with Pakistan, with Lahore as its prime target.the Indian Army met with success in the northern sector. After launching prolonged artillery barrages against Pakistan, India was able to capture three important mountain positions in Kashmir. the Indian Army had made considerable in-roads into Pakistan. India had its largest haul of Pakistani tanks when the offensive of Pakistan’s 1st Armoured Division was blunted at the Battle of Asal Uttar, which took place near Khemkaran. The biggest tank battle of the war was of the Battle of Chawinda, the largest tank battle in history after World War II. Pakistan’s defeat at the battle of Assal Uttar hastened the end of the conflict. India lost 3500 soldiers and 175 tanks and Pakistan lost 3800 soldiers and 190 tanks and 100 tanks were captured by India. When Pakistan had lost almost all its defenses India could have easily taken over Lahore and Islamabad but due to internal political factors in India and pressure from the United States and the UN, made India to stop the army’s movement. Pakistan was forced to sign the Tashkent agreement stating that Pakistan had lost the war and would move back the pre-war positions.
1971:
An independence movement broke out in East Pakistan which was brutally crushed by Pakistani forces. Due to large-scale atrocities against them, thousands of Bengalis took refuge in neighboring India causing a major refugee crisis here. In early 1971, India declared its full-support for the Bengali rebels, known as Mukti Bahini, and Indian agents were extensively involved in covert operations to aid them.
India won the battle by. Pakistan lost over 200 tanks, more than 9000 soldiers and 40 aircrafts compared to India which lost only 200 men, 80 tanks and 26 aircrafts. over 90,000 Pakistani military personals were taken as war prisoners by India and the independent state of Bangladesh was created. Again Pakistan had to sign the Simla Agreement to avoid further attacks from India.
Siachen conflict 1984:
launched Operation Meghdoot in April 1984. The entire Kumaon Regiment of the Indian Army was airlifted to the glacier. Pakistani forces responded quickly and clashes between the two followed. Indian Army secured the strategic Sia La and Bilafond La mountain passes and by 1985, more than 1,000 square miles (2,600 km2) of territory, ‘claimed’ by Pakistan, was under Indian control. The Indian Army continues to control all of the Siachen Glacier and its tributary glaciers. Pakistan made several unsuccessful attempts to regain control over Siachen. In late 1987, Pakistan mobilized about 8,000 troops and garrisoned them near Khapalu, aiming to capture Bilafond La. However, they were repulsed by Indian Army personnel guarding Bilafond. During the battle, about 23 Indian soldiers lost their lives while more than 150 Pakistani troops perished. Further unsuccessful attempts to reclaim positions were launched by Pakistan in 1990, 1995, 1996 and 1999, most notably in Kargil that year.
India continues to maintain a strong military presence in the region despite extremely inhospitable conditions. The conflict over Siachen is regularly cited as an example of mountain warfare.
Kargil 1999:
Pakistani paramilitary forces and Kashmiri insurgents captured deserted, but strategic, Himalayan heights in the Kargil district of India. These had been vacated by the Indian army during the onset of the inhospitable winter and were supposed to reoccupied in spring. The regular Pakistani troops who took control of these areas received important support, both in the form of arms and supplies, from Pakistan. Some of the heights under their control, which also included the Tiger Hill, overlooked the vital Srinagar-Leh Highway (NH 1A), Batalik and Dras.
the Indian Army quickly mobilized about 200,000 troops and Operation Vijay (1999)|Operation Meghdoot]] was launched. However, since the heights were under Pakistani control, India was in a clear strategic disadvantage. From their observation posts, the Pakistani forces had a clear line-of-sight to lay down indirect artillery fire on NH 1A, inflicting heavy casualties on the Indians. Thus, the Indian Army’s first priority was to recapture peaks that were in the immediate vicinity of NH1a. This resulted in Indian troops first targeting the Tiger Hill and Tololing complex in Dras. This was soon followed by more attacks on the Batalik-Turtok sub-sector which provided access to Siachen Glacier. Point 4590, which had the nearest view of the NH1a, was successfully recaptured by Indian forces.
In many vital points, neither artillery nor air power could dislodge the outposts manned by the Pakistan soldiers, who were out of visible range. The Indian Army mounted some direct frontal ground assaults which were slow and took a heavy toll given the steep ascent that had to be made on peaks as high as 18,000 feet (5,500 m). Two months into the conflict, Indian troops had slowly retaken most of the ridges they had lost;according to official count, an estimated 75%–80% of the intruded area and nearly all high ground was back under Indian control.
The Indian Army launched its final attacks, as soon as the Drass subsector had been cleared of Pakistani forces the war ended.India resumed control of all the territories lost.
nearly 527 Indian soldiers were killed and 700 Pakistani personal and 3000 Mujahideen fighters were killed.

1) Depending on different immigration policies of different countries; yes all countries do give residence permits, nationalities and passports to Pakistanis. On occasions, even countries like U.A.E other nations (that have very rigid immigration policies do not allot passports to foreigners) entertain Pakistanis. 2) ISI “HAD” supported Taliban, Al-Qaeda and other Jihadist groups earlier, just like CIA, NSA and other Western Intelligence Agencies to fight Soviets. Non do anymore. That’s why NATO and U.S troops take ISI help every now and then. The US Army should be number one for maximum no. of people killed, affected or raped in this century. Unnecessary wars for propaganda and imaginary wars for freedom have caused havoc in many countries, both in the Americas and the Middle East. The Vietnam War was a dark blotch in the already disgraced moral stance of these armies. In that aspect almost all European especially the French Army and the American Army are nothing but invasion armies.
The Indian Army on the other hand, also the Indian Government has not pro-actively attacked anybody. Even in the case of Bangladesh, Pakistan’s atrocities were getting out of hand. The Indian Army is the only one respectable in this lot.

An interesting phenomena that you observe while you are ranking armies is that, that they are never the way you arrange them in order and well there is an explanation for that too.
It has been observed that when you put two divisions of opposite armies against each other you would experience that the one that was expected to win or at least easily qualify was not able to do it as expected. And practical example of that are :-
1- The Losses suffered in Vietnam war by Americans
2- Indians unluckiness to cross 3-mile walk into Pakistani territory to capture Lahore (provincial capital}
Indians even being a mighty competitor losing from the hands of handful Extremists in Kargil War
3- Mighty Blow to Soviet troops in Afghanistan
Giving examples of Modern age mighty armies in modern times loosing from hands of minor competitors would justify that it is not always the mightiness rather an invisible hand that govern the performance of competitors.
Now that invisible hand is not a certain set of rules that govern the nature of conflicts rather that invisible hand is more likely to change with the change in area, nature, geography and size of a war. What i attend to say can be justified by explanations to the given forth anomalies.
US Marines and army had to re-supply its troops in Vietnam sitting hundreds of mile far from the conflict. Terrain of that area was unsuitable for army corps level movement in formations. They had little intelligence. United enemy was nowhere visible. After WWII they army was engaged in an entirely different type of conflict that can be precisely regarded as Guerilla Warfare or Jungle LIC (Low Intensity Conflict) in contrast to conventional warfare of WWII. Therefore Army had to disintegrate into fractions in search of awaiting enemy that had an advantage of know-how of terrain and due to an important factor of being local over powered the fractional US Army Marines personnel in Low intensity conflicts. US Army cannot pound the area as it has civilians in it too. So what do we see over here is that, that we have limitation of choices that we cannot pound the areas. We don’t want to move in fractions because then we will get overpowered. Looking to all condition available over there we saw that Americans Losses were well above Vietnamese. This for instance proved that Vietnamese were better off then US? Surely not. So its the conditions of war that tell us about the rank of army as far as you are concerned.
Same was the case for Soviet forces in Afghanistan.
Now we consider Indian army in-competence to complete its objective Lahore from short distance of 3-5 miles with a well-prepared mighty force. When we see into the reasons of this uncompleted objective, we find that there were many more other factors that were playing against Indian army that instance giving a way ahead advantage to Pakistani Army (its counter part).
Pakistan army takes maximum or 3-4 days to mobilize its military to the border from stand-by time to operational mode in contrast to Indian massive military that takes 14 precise days to get into operational mode losing precious time in which Pakistanis could have prepared them selves for the massive blow from Indians by strengthening there defenses, which is what they did on 6th September 1965. And when we’re in enemy territory, we don’t play any games. If a dude drives a car next to a tank in Iraq seemingly on purpose, we assume there is an IED in the car, we fucking shoot the bastard and isolate the vehicle. China has around 2 million active personals and about 3 million reserves, do you even think that you have got a chance. Ever thought of opening a history book have you? Okay I don’t hold anything against the US army but half the wars you stated were NOT won. The other half were either won with help from other countries or were against weaker states. You stated Vietnam and Korea as wins based on what? Number of casualties? If that was the case then WW2 was lost by the USSR. But was it? Instead the Red Army was the main reason why the Nazi resistance was broken. The toughest test the Americans faced against the Germans was the Battle of Bulge which was not half of what the Russians faced at Stalingrad. Bay of Pigs was an embarrassment for the US! The western front would not have existed were it not for the British. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have gone terribly wrong! The American Revolution? Well you owe the French BIG TIME for that. It wasn’t just you guys.
And are you serious? Mexican war? Gulf war? You’re really in a state of denial man. You have all the technology in the world which is, I agree, THE most essential component for a conventional war. But an army’s might is, I believe, more reliably judged by discipline and tactics for unconventional methods – two things the Americans lag behind in. Sorry to burst your bubble. But I think the Americans are going to need A LOT of help if they face most of the countries mentioned in this list. As a fighting force, while I DO rate the Americans right at the top, other armies such as the British, Indian, Chinese, Israeli and Pakistani are right up there as some of them have equally good, if not better, tactical awareness and some go one better when it comes to fighting in unconventional circumstances e.g. the Chinese and Pakistani.

After a long time u hav realized that chinese troop have dissolved in NKorean military, thats y u have to keep back. It was lik a draw in perceptive with start of war.
