Advertising That Makes an Impact

A favorite feature on Fletcher Freelance’s blog, Style and Substance is the regular ad reviews. As consumers become more sophisticated and continue to find more ways to “tune out” marketing communications Fletcher finds ads that rise to the top. Ads that make an impact. Enjoy some of Fletcher’s latest favorites:

ExBoyfriend

I heart ExBoyfriend; no, the tee shirt company. They get points for having a great company name, making it easy to share your purchase on Facebook or Twitter, and including this awesome little sticker with the order. (P.S. I bought the “I’m Big in China” shirt for my little brother who was living in China and came home to visit recently. He thinks he’s a bit of a celebrity. Plus, he’s pretty tall.)

BlackRock

Previously I gave a mixed review of a BlackRock print ad. I’m not sure about how I feel about this one either. “Are you still investing the way your grandfather did?” I don’t know about you, but my grandfather made some very wise investment choices. Of course the world economy has changed since then. Maybe BlackRock just isn’t trying to target my demographic, but this just doesn’t work for me.

Charity Water

This ad is so simple and so bold. I love it. The only thing I didn’t care for was when I went to the website. There is nothing wrong with the site, but the site and print ad didn’t seem to be tied together in anyway. I believe in a consistent brand image (or charity image).

That’s my .02. Have a favorite ad you’d like to see here?
