The Rhode Island Department of Health is the state agency responsible for protecting and promoting the health of Rhode Island's residents through public health programs, disease prevention, health regulation, and vital records services. The department oversees licensing of healthcare facilities, food safety inspections, environmental health monitoring, emergency preparedness, and vital records including birth, death, and marriage certificates. With a mission to ensure access to quality healthcare for all Rhode Islanders, the department administers a wide range of public health initiatives and regulatory programs.
