DirJournal.com ("DirJournal," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by DSS Media, LLC, a limited liability company organized in the United States, doing business as DirJournal. For the purposes of applicable US federal and state privacy laws, DSS Media, LLC is the entity responsible for personal information collected through the DirJournal platform.

2. Consent

By accessing, browsing, or using DirJournal, you consent to the collection, processing, storage, and use of personal information as described in this Privacy Policy. Where a specific US state privacy law requires additional opt-in consent (for example, for the processing of sensitive personal information or for targeted advertising), we will obtain that consent separately as required.

This Policy covers:

• Account registration and authentication data;
• Business listing information submitted by listing owners;
• Contact form submissions and lead inquiries;
• Newsletter subscriptions;
• Usage analytics and browsing behavior;
• Payment and transaction data processed through our payment partners.

3. Your Rights Under US Privacy Laws

Depending on your state of residence, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding personal information we hold about you:

4. California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the "CCPA"), grants you the rights described in Section 3, plus:

• The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising;
• The right to limit our use and disclosure of sensitive personal information to what is necessary to perform the services or provide the goods reasonably expected;
• The right to designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, subject to reasonable identity verification.

Categories of personal information collected in the last 12 months (as defined by Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.140): identifiers, commercial information, internet or other electronic network activity, geolocation data, professional or employment-related information, and inferences drawn from the above. We do not knowingly collect the categories of sensitive personal information listed in the CCPA beyond account credentials.

"Do Not Sell or Share" requests can be submitted via our Contact page with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information." We also honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where technically feasible.

5. Colorado, Virginia, Connecticut, Utah, and Texas Residents

Residents of Colorado (Colorado Privacy Act), Virginia (Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act), Connecticut (Connecticut Data Privacy Act), Utah (Utah Consumer Privacy Act), and Texas (Texas Data Privacy and Security Act) have substantially similar rights to those described in Section 3 — access, correction, deletion, portability, and opt-out of targeted advertising, sale of personal data, or certain profiling.

To exercise any of these rights, use the request channels in Section 3 and identify your state of residence so we can apply the correct legal framework and response timeline. If we deny your request, you have the right to appeal our decision by replying to our determination; we will respond to your appeal within the timeframe required by your state's law.

6. Data We Collect

• Identity Data: Name, email address, business name, and contact information;
• Technical Data: IP address, browser type, device information, and access logs;
• Usage Data: Pages visited, search queries, and interaction patterns;
• Transaction Data: Payment details processed through secure third-party payment providers;
• Content Data: Reviews, listings, and other user-generated content.

7. Affiliate Partners & Cookies

DirJournal uses affiliate links and partners with third-party services that may earn commissions from referral traffic. Our affiliate partners may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track referral traffic, attribute commissions, and analyze marketing performance.

You may manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of certain features. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where technically feasible, and treat them as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information under the CCPA and comparable state laws.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes encrypted data transmission, secure server infrastructure, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; if we become aware of a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you and the appropriate regulators as required by applicable US federal and state law.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy, to comply with our legal, tax, and accounting obligations under US federal and state law, or to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Business listing data may be retained for the duration of the listing's active status plus a reasonable archival period.

10. Third-Party Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration. We may share information with:

• Payment processors for transaction processing;
• Analytics providers for platform improvement;
• Law enforcement authorities and government bodies when required by a valid US federal, state, or local legal process;
• Affiliate partners as described in Section 7.

Some of these disclosures may constitute "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CCPA. See Section 4 for how to opt out.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated through a notice on our platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
