Removing Google’s Logo-Filled Search Results

Google redesigned its search results by including favicons, a big “Ad” icon for sponsored search results and dispersed site URLs.

If you’re as fed up as we are about these cluttered search results, there’s a process through which you can eliminate some of these changes.

For starters, install UBlock Origin or AdBlock Plus in your browser. Go to the extension’s settings and enter these filters to retain the old look:-

  • google.com##.xA33Gc (to remove favicons)
  • google.com##.iUh30.bc.rpCHfe (to remove URLs)
  • google.com###am-b0 and google.com##.GHDvEf.ab_button (to remove the arrow next to URLs)
  • google.com##.TbwUpd and google.com###am-b0 and google.com##.GHDvEf.ab_button (to remove everything)

Using these little filters, we were able to refine our search results to get what we were actually looking for.

If you also want to get rid of videos, enter this in your adblocker:

google.com##g-section-with-header:has-text(/Videos/)

The results appear more interesting!
