Yale’s Free Course on ‘Science of Well-Being’

If you want to increase your productivity and happiness this new year, Yale University might be able to help you.

Yale is offering a free public course on ‘The Science of Well-Being‘ through Coursera.

The course is spread over 10 weeks of roughly 2 hours of coursework per week, mostly consisting of videos and reading notes. This week would involve 4 videos totalling 14 minutes and 8 different readings and next week would involve 7 videos totally 63 minutes, 3 readings and a quiz.

The official course description reads:

In this course, you will engage in a series of challenges designed to increase your own happiness and build more productive habits. As preparation for these tasks, Professor Laurie Santos reveals misconceptions about happiness, annoying features of the mind that lead us to think the way we do, and the research that can help us change. You will ultimately be prepared to successfully incorporate a specific wellness activity into your life“.

You can take this course at your own pace so there’s no hassle regarding deadlines or catching up. A total of 20 hours are required to complete the entire course.

If you’re interested in getting a certificate for the course, you’ll need to pay $50. It can be added to the ‘Certificates’ section of your LinkedIn profile or displayed on your resume.

You can, nonetheless, mention that you completed the course even if you don’t opt for the paid certificate.
